Steffen Hammer - the verticalist
Hi, I'm Steffen, the man behind the camera. I come from the tiny metropolis, but also the large village of Stuttgart, Germany, and would like to tell you more about myself, my vision and my art.
Me
I am an entirely self-tought photographer for about 20 years now.
I have a close relationship with nature. Being outdoors with or without a camera is my meditation, and I absolutely love to travel, especially by train and by bysicle, and explore new places.
I also make designs, maps an other creative work and in the past also webdesign and storytelling city tours.
When I first saw photographs in a vertical panorama format, I was gripped by these pictures. A very interesting and uncommon view.
So I took my camera, went out, took photos of my city, Stuttgart, and … nothing more than an ordinary picture in a different format.
Long story short, this motivated me. I kept on taking pictures vertically. I startet to see in this dimensions and my photos began to emphasise the vertical. I developed my vertical eye.
My Vision
For a decade now, I photograph vertical images.
From the beginning, I tried to create an very new es, Bildern aus neuen [Blickwiinkeln] in my images, an [unbekannte] Perspective, for which this format is ideally suited. Images, where the viewer comes to the conclusion:
Yes, this motive can only be taken in this format.
After a vew years of cities and architecture, my vertical eye discovered the nature, #[Pflanzen], insects an other small animals.
I saw the art of nature, and I saw it in the vertical format.
I always try to connect with the wonderful scenes, feel what they want to tell and capture these #[expressions].
Last but not least, I added vertical landscape images.
Bilder zeigen die Schönheit/Kunst der "normalen" Natur, von kleinen "intimen" Szenen bis hin zu ganzen Naturräumen
Natur als Kunst
[Blickwinkel]
ganz eigene Sichtweise
[adjektibve / emotionen]
When I photograph nature, landscape, cities, I try to connect with the wonderful scenes, feel what they want to say (ausdrücken/mitteilen?) and capture these ### (ausdrücke).
kraftvolle Bilder,
Images that capture a feeling.
I seek authentic connection
The authenticity.
"The things that light my SOUL on fire - traveling to new places, the view at the end of a hike, road trips without a plan,"
der Spirit der Natur auf das Bild bannen
Besonders herausfordernd, fordernd und lerhhreich war und ist es, "horizontale" Dinge wie Brücken und Straßen ins vertikale Format zu übersetzen.

My vertical Art
"My pricing reflects what I’ve personally invested into my career as a professional photographer. Over the years, I’ve photographed hundreds of couples, have invested in the highest quality gear, and have invested in my own personal education to give you the very best experience I possibly can. WITH THAT BEING SAID, YOUR STORY IS UNIQUE. MY PRICING LISTED BELOW IS JUST THE BASICS. LET’S WORK TOGETHER AND SEE WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU."
"How much do you edit your photos? ==> Post-processing is the most time intensive part, as I work hard to ensure that every image meets my artistic standard and has my signature look. My edit is applied and adjusted for things like brightness & optimal color. I like to make sure each image is as true to its natural color as possible. I do not give any of the RAW (unedited) images upon delivery."
